If you prefer a quiet, secluded spot and don’t mind a bit of a trek, overnight backpacking is available at 21 locations and walk-in tent sites are available at nine state parks. For those who don’t want the racket of setting up a tent, Cuivre River, Table Rock and Washington state parks provide platform sites with ready-to-use canvas tents.

S’more, Please!

No campout is complete without a campfire and no campfire is complete without a sweet treat. For a yummy spin on the classic s’more, try this newfound favorite recipe with strawberries mixed in.

The Chocolate Covered Strawberry S’more

Ingredients:
8 chocolate graham cracker squares.
8 strawberries, sliced.
4 tablespoons chocolate hazelnut spread.
4 jumbo marshmallows.

Place two strawberries on a chocolate graham cracker. Top with one tablespoon of chocolate hazelnut spread. Roast marshmallow to desired doneness. Place roasted marshmallow on top and cover with an additional chocolate graham cracker. square. Eat and enjoy!
